Frequently Asked Questions about Head Spas

Head spa treatments, often referred to as “scalp treatments” or “scalp spas” have become increasingly popular for the benefits related to hair health, relaxation, and well-being.

Here are some commonly asked questions about head spas:

What is a head spa?

A head spa is a treatment primarily focused on the scalp and is designed to cleanse, stimulate, and nourish the scalp and hair follicles. A headspa refers to a scalp treatment designed to boost both your scalp’s well-being and your hair’s overall health. This rejuvenating experience involves using specialized products to detoxify your scalp. Through a soothing deep tissue massage, the treatment encourages circulation and stimulates your scalp. It’s akin to treating your scalp to a facial – a refreshing indulgence for your head!

What are the benefits of a head spa?

Benefits may include improved blood circulation, removal of product buildup, reduced dandruff, strengthened hair follicles, relaxation, and stress relief

Am I a good candidate for a headspa treatment?

Anyone can benefit from a headspa experience. This treatment offers an opportunity to unwind, enjoy a soothing massage, and simply relax. If you happen to have a dry, itchy, or oily scalp, issues with dandruff, build-up from hair products, clogged follicles, irritated skin, thin hair, hair loss, or even if you are dealing with stress, you are especially encouraged to give it a try. It’s a rejuvenating option for a variety of scalp and hair concerns.

What if you have 3A to 4C Hair Type?

How can pH Headspa benefit me?

Headspas play a crucial role in fostering healthy hair growth and preventing issues like dandruff and hair loss. They achieve this by promoting proper blood circulation, which is vital for strong and thriving hair. Additionally, these relaxing treatments effectively alleviate pressure and invigorate the scalp, creating a conducive environment for healthy hair. Furthermore, headspa treatments help prevent the accumulation of excess sebum, ensuring your scalp remains balanced and comfortable.

How often should I get a head spa?

The frequency depends on individual needs, but many recommend once a month for optimal scalp health.

Is a head spa treatment good for hair growth?

While a head spa can improve blood circulation and remove buildup, which may promote a healthier environment for hair growth, there’s no definitive evidence that it directly causes hair to grow faster or thicker.

How long does a head spa treatment take?

Typically, treatments can range from 60minutes to an 120 min depending on the package you decide.

Will it help with dandruff or other scalp conditions?

Some treatments can help alleviate dandruff or other conditions by exfoliating and deeply cleansing the scalp, but those with severe issues should consult a dermatologist.

Is it the same as a hair spa?

Not necessarily. While both treatments focus on hair health, a hair spa typically emphasizes the treatment of the hair strands themselves, while a head spa focuses primarily on the scalp.

How much does a head spa cost?

Prices vary widely based on location, spa, and specific services provided. Click here for our prices and treatment services.

What products do we offer?

We carry only salon quality PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS ONLY and specialize in the care of bleached and color treated hair.

Will you blow-dry my hair afterwards?

We include a basic blow dry / dry off as part of our head spa service. This will remove excessive moisture from your hair, this will ensure you don’t leave our studio with dripping wet hair.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

To prepare for your appointment, we kindly recommend that you come in with comfortable clothing on and with your hair that has been brushed and detangled to the best of your ability,
While we do detangle and brush your hair before our head spa treatment, excessively tangled and knotty hair may result in a deduction time from your head spa session, so it’s highly recommended brush your hair before coming in.

We also kindly recommend that you wear minimal/no jewelry during your session.

Please do not wash hair before coming to Appointment.

What clothing should I wear for my appointment?

We have freshly laundered salon robes you can wear, If you prefer not to wear one of these then we kindly request that if possible you wear a thin strap singlet or strapless type shirt for your comfort and ease during our head spa treatment, This type of attire will ensure that our technicians can provide you with a thorough neck and shoulder massage without requiring any clothing removal.

Can I visit with hair extensions / braids / dreadlocks?

HAIR TYPE 3A TO 4C COMPLEX ARE WELCOME and BALD as well.

Due to the nature of our treatment, head spa treatments are best suited for hair that can be brushed through thoroughly. If you have hair extensions, braids or dreadlocks, we do strongly recommend undoing them completely before your appointment, this will help to ensure that we can offer you the best and most enjoyable experience possible to be able to get to your scalp.

If the hair is too matted, then unfortunately we will be NOT be unable to accommodate you at this time.

Currently not accepting if you have extensions, braids, and dreadlocks in place as the scrub brush can cause loosing to any of those braids and extensions.

Will a head spa strip the colour in my hair?

The ingredients we use in our services are all of high quality and a professional range, these are safe for all types of hair.
However, if you recently completed any type of colour services within a week before your head spa appointment, there is a chance that the color may lift from the hair during our detoxing process, specifically fashion colours (bright reds/pinks/purples/blues etc)

At ph Head Spai we do recommend that our head spa customers wait at least a week after any kind of chemical hair treatment before receiving a head spa.
